Java
Jazz Festival (JJF) is the biggest jazz music event held every year. This event
was held on March 2nd-4th, 2012 by Java Festival
Production (JFP). JJF this year was the best show among the other years,
because they brought Stevie Wonder, Dave Koz, D’sound, Mamas Gun, and many
more.
At
Java Jazz Festival this year, I would be one of the volunteers to help monitoring
some of the artists in the interview room. I was so excited because I could
meet the artists who would be interviewed by media. There were four interview
sessions in the Interview room. I would
be in charge to coordinate the interviewing session on the set 3.
The first
day of Java Jazz Festival 2012, my boss gave me the list of the interview sessions.
I had a schedule to arrange the interview of D’sound. D’sound is an International
group band from Norway. So my duty was to call the media. 2 hours before the
interview, I had to call the media to stand by 30 minutes before the interview
sessions. There were two types of media; TV/Radio media and online/magazine
media. Sometimes it was hard to handle the media, because they demanded a lot
of things. The hardest media to handle was Berita Satu, I really hated them.
When the interview sessions begun, the first media who came to the interview
room would get the first interview session. Day 1 finally done, I didn’t have
any issues in handling the media at D’sound’s interview session. And the best
part was I got a chance to take a picture with them, yeay lucky me. After my
duty was done, I watched D’sound, Raissa, and Depapepe performances.
On the
second day of Java Jazz Festival 2012, I came earlier to JIEXPO. I decided to
take a look around JIEXPO. There were a lot of booths there so I took a picture
myself at Rolling Stone and wall of fame booth. After I finished taking some
pictures, I came to the interview room and as usual my boss gave me the list of
the interview sessions. And this time I was really surprised and excited. I got
a schedule to arrange the interview for Mamas Gun. I knew a few songs of them
so I was really excited. There were 10 media scheduled to interview Mamas Gun
on that day, so I called media crews and all of them were answering the phone
and they told me that they were ready to stand by 30 minutes before the
interview sessions. The time finally came for the interview session, all the
media were already here. I just couldn’t imagine how hectic the situation was,
because at the same time there were three interview sessions in the same interview
room. So here the Mamas Gun came, they looked so COOL and so British. Finally,
one by one the media from the TV, radio, and magazine finished interviewing
Mamas Gun. However, unfortunately I couldn’t
take a picture of them with me, because my boss was there. I was so
upset and disappointed, but what else I could do.
On the
third day of Java Jazz Festival 2012, I thought there would be no more
interview sessions, but I was wrong. In fact, I got a schedule to coordinate the
interview sessions for Mayer Hawthrone and Kotak. There were two interview
sessions in one day, so I had to work hard on this final day. I came to JIEXPO
at 2 o’clock and had to wait until 4 o’clock to call all the media. As I was waiting
in the interview room with two of my friends, suddenly there was someone
opening the door and it was my favorite band; Mamas Gun. They came in to the
room and said, “Hi” to me, and I was so excited, I was screaming like a crazy girl.
They told me that they wanted to use this room to have rehearsal before performing.
And then they played acoustically their famous song called “Pots of Gold”. When
they had done with their rehearsal, eventually I got a chance to take a picture
with them. Yeayyyy I was so happy. And back to work, after Mamas Gun left I had
to call the media to interview the Mayer Hawthrone and Kotak. After the
interview sessions, suddenly my boyfriend showed up and then we watched all of
the artist performances.
From
all of the events that I’ve volunteered so far, Java Jazz Festival 2012 was the
best event of all. And I was so glad that they were hiring me to monitor the
interview room.
